Caramel Apple Nachos

Crisp apple slices layered with warm caramel, chocolate, crunchy pretzels, and just enough salt to make every bite disappear.

Ingredients

  • 3 large crisp apples, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce, warmed
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup miniature chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup crushed salted pretzels
  • Flaky sea salt, optional

Directions

  1. Core the apples and cut them into thin wedges.
  2. Combine lemon juice and cold water. Add the apple slices and toss gently.
  3. Drain and pat the apples completely dry, then arrange on a platter.
  4. Warm the caramel sauce and drizzle it over the apples.
  5. Microwave the semisweet chocolate chips and oil in 15-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  6. Drizzle the chocolate over the apples. Sprinkle with miniature chocolate chips, pretzels, and sea salt.
  7. Serve immediately.
OCW Kitchen Tip: Dry the apple slices thoroughly so the caramel and chocolate cling. Assemble shortly before serving for the best crunch.
